The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player will remain in jail because several requests for remand have been turned down.

The most recent appeal was denied by judges at the high court in Barcelona.

According to Marca, there are concerns that Alves would leave the country if released, possibly returning to his home country of Brazil, which does not extradite citizens to other countries.

A new report from El Periodico claims that the trial for Alves' case will take place this autumn. The official confirmation of the precise times is still pending.

Due to the fact that the Law on the Guarantee of Sexual Freedom came into effect in October, Alves could face a sentence of six to twelve years in prison if he is found guilty.

Alves claimed that he had never met his accuser in a television interview prior to his arrest. However, after being held, he changed his story and now maintains his innocence, asserting that there was no assault and that consent was given.

He denies assaulting a woman sexually, but he admitted to cheating on his wife.

In the beginning, it was reported that Alves had been accused of putting his hands on the woman's underwear inside the club. Later, it came to light that the accuser had said that she had been slapped around the face and raped in the bathroom.

El Periodico adds that up to five judges, including the two investigating judges and three magistrates, have reviewed the evidence twice and come to the same conclusion.

The victim's claims are said to be supported by a number of clues, which contradict Alves's explanations thus far.

The victim's seven fingerprints were found in the sink and cistern by the police.
