NLC begins indefinite protest over 'Anti-people" policies

The Coordinated Labour has started off its protest against the "anti-people" policies of the President Bola Tinubu organization in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and different states of the Federation including Lagos,Benue, Abia, Level, Kaduna, Kano, Streams, Zamfara, Katsina, Cross Waterway, Ebonyi, Enugu, Kwara, Ogun, Imo, Ondo, and Edo.

In Abuja, individuals from the Coordinated Labour with various gear of the associations, on Wednesday morning, assembled at the notable Unity Fountain for the protest.


At the Unity Fountain, a few members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) from the FCT were seen with hundreds of their members.
Partnered associations of the NLC and the TUC including the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural gas Workers (NUPENG), the National Union of Electricity Employees of Nigeria (NUEE), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) additionally joined the nationwide protest.

At the Unity Fountain, as well as at the various protest venues across the states, there were a sizable number of security personnel comprised of officers from the Nigeria Police Force and men from the Department of State Services (DSS).


NLC President, Joe Ajaero, told Source at the scene that there "nothing stopping the protest, not even an overture from the government".

He said that the Coordinated Labour will not hold the protest until there is an ideal reaction from the government.

Ajaero said the reaction from the states will decide "whether the protest will be from today, or tomorrow or next or till thy the hereafter, it isn't by utilizing force".


He stated, "We are here for the protest and to make a statement that since we started negotiation, that there is nothing we can do."

The protesters from there on matched to the National Assembly and the Three Arms Zone (access to the Presidential Villa) where the labour chiefs said they would convey their messages to the government.
