Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has offered automatic employment to Miss. Yusuf Aminat, record-setting First-Class Law graduate of the Lagos State University (LASU).
Yusuf holds the record for the highest cumulative grade point average 5.0 (CGPA) of any graduate in the 40-year history of the school.
Tending to columnists in Benin, Obaseki said the state where Yusuf hailed from chose to go past simple congrats.
He said she was offered automatic employment to prevent the “risk of losing her to other states”.
“She has not done her youth service. So, what we are proposing is that we will write to the National Youth Service Corps so that she will serve with us here in Edo State, so that we don’t run the risk of losing her.”
Obaseki stated that his administration was committed to improving the quality of human resources in the public service when he spoke about the state's efforts to create a workforce that is competitive.
We have prioritized this and will hire the best people to work in the state. As a government, we have done everything in our power to create an environment that encourages work, so we also want the best people.
“In order for the public service in Edo State to become sufficiently appealing for the best talent from within and outside the state, we are creating the best work environment here. We are grateful to our beloved young people who have achieved academic success, and we anticipate that more of them will do so.
He said that, in addition to the job offer, Miss Yusuf had received other forms of support as a reward for her good deed, and that she had indeed presented herself well as a worthy state ambassador.
