The minimum score for university admission set by JAMB is 140 (Details)

The National Minimum Tolerable score for admission to universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education has been set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at 140, 100, and 100, respectively.

The minimum score for university admission set by JAMB is 140 (Details)

This was made clear on Saturday at the 2023 Policy Meeting of Tertiary Institutions in Abuja by Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar.

He stated that this rule must be followed by all institutions and that they must not fall below the approved points.

In addition, he stated that each tertiary institution must ensure its own minimum standard, particularly when it comes to institutional screening and grading on the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), which must not fall below 50 marks.

“This minimum point must be adhered to by all institutions. As a result, no institution can fall short of the standard.

“Note that the 140 is sacrosanct and must not be violated for the fifteen private universities that demand between 120 and 130 as the minimum points.

He explained,
"This is because the system that was put in place will not recognize 139, so make sure you comply."

Additionally, Oloyede stated that institutions must limit candidate screening fees to N2,000.
