According to reports, 45-year-old Belgian David Baerten was feeling alone and wanted to spend time with his family.
After informing his daughter and wife of the plan, he accepted it and participated in it, even posting about it on social media.
David surprised his loved ones when he showed up for the funeral and burial. He repeatedly informed them that he pulled the prank on them in order to demonstrate to them how crucial it is for them to communicate with one another.
While some of his online critics defended him, others took aim at him for what they described as a "cruel" prank.
