A former leader of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), who was accounted for missing has been found.
The 76-year-old Nigerian scholar and activist was making a trip to Algeria at the greeting of the Algerian government when he was said to have missed his corresponding flight from Istanbul, Turkey.
He was found in Turkey by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission in association with Nigeria High Commission.
“The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in Turkey, has successfully located Prof Fasina, who went missing for a few days at Istanbul Airport while connecting on a flight back home.”
“Mr. Fasina, 76, was travelling to Algeria when he was said to have missed his connecting flight from Istanbul, Turkey.
“A big thanks to the Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey who immediately sent officials to the Airport to physically locate him in the very busy and huge Istanbul Airport,” NiDCOM said in a statement on Sunday.
Mr. Dipo Fasina is a scholar and activist. He showed Philosophy for 34 years at the Obafemi Awolowo College (OAU), Ile-Ife, subsequent to getting back from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he stowed his Ph.D.
In 2001, he was chosen Public Leader of ASUU, during which he drove one of the longest strikes by academics in Nigeria's set of experiences.
