One of the ten winners of a grant from the 41-year-old music star this month was Chuku's, a Nigerian tapas restaurant in Tottenham owned and operated by Emeka and Ifeyinwa Frederik, a brother and sister duo.

BeyGOOD, the Halo singer's foundation, had pledged to give $1 million (£806,000) to ten local businesses as part of her Renaissance World Tour.

After launching during the pandemic, Chuku's faced a number of challenges, including the high cost of rising energy bills.

Beyonce's foundation has provided the siblings with an additional boost thanks to the grant that was given out at the Black Parade Small Business Impact Luncheon, which was organized by BeyGOOD to "celebrate people, communities, and small businesses impacted by economic inequities worldwide."

Emeka, a co-founder of Chuku, commented on the win:
'This grant couldn’t be more welcome. Chuku’s, like other restaurants that don’t have a financial reserve, has been battered by lockdowns and the cost of living crisis.
'Every day, we’re fighting to stay open to make it to our fourth birthday.

This money will make that fight a little easier and allow us to continue celebrating Nigerian culture on Tottenham’s High Road for the time being.'

In addition, his sister Ifeyinwa stated:

'I still can’t quite believe that Beyoncé has backed our restaurant - it feels a bit surreal.
